The Health and Education Integration Center (CIES, or Centro de Integração de Educação e Saúde, in portuguese) has been developing the Preventive Medical Program (PMP) since 2016 with the goal of strengthening the pillar of disease prevention, focusing on empowering the patient to manage his own health. The organization, supported by SITAWI through the social and environmental lending mechanism, has the mission of providing specialized, humanized and high technology medical care to communities away from large centers through its advanced mobile medical centers.
SITAWI has made five social and environmental loans to the organization, amounting to R$ 1.5 million. The most recent loan, in 2016, in the amount of R$ 214 thousand, had the objective of implementing the Preventive Medical Program (PMP) in Atlanta, in the United States, consolidating the organization’s international performance.
In 2016, the PMP had a total of 2,000 visits in the USA, mostly from women over 40 years. The expectation is that about 6,000 people will be served in 2017 and more than 16,000 in 2018.
“Our goal is to empower citizens about the risks of diseases based on their family life and family history and to guide them on how best to stay healthy,” explains Roberto Kikawa, founding physician at CIES Global.
