With 12 successful funding, which contributed to mobilize R$5.6 million for a positive socio-environmental impact, the Crowdlending Platform for Impact Sitawi was the big winner of the Environmental Finance IMPACT Awards 2020, in the Latin America and Caribbean Impact Initiative of the Year category.
This is the first edition of the award that seeks to recognize and reward the work of impact investors globally, and to highlight best practices and thought leadership across all asset classes around the world. The award follows the launch earlier this year of a section of Environmental Finance's website dedicated to impact investing, seeking to identify the trends that are shaping this rapidly expanding field.
The winners were chosen by a panel of 12 judges, made up of impact investors from around the world, based on information for the period between April 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020.
“We know who the entrepreneur is, what kind of project is being done, what the money is being used for. That's what I thought was cool: knowing who my money is going to and knowing that it will be used for something worthwhile, in which we believe.”
Maria Eugenia Taborda – Investor
“Considering the difficulties in accessing credit for small and medium-sized companies in the Brazilian market, having this support from Sitawi for the entrepreneur who focuses on impact is very good because in addition to having access to a credit that does not exist in the traditional market, it is also a credit with a look that values you for the impact that you as an entrepreneur are bringing to the world and this is recognition incredible. This is combined with investor awareness of the potential of this capital to impact lives. Interest rates are affordable and below the market, but on the other hand, it is a resource for growth, ideal for a medium-term plan as the analysis and disbursement process requires good financial planning.”
Filipe Aguiar – Entrepreneur of Orgânicos In Box
