We are living in a period of complex and interconnected socio-environmental challenges. Society increasingly needs the private sector to take an active role in promoting positive change, including aspects such as environmental conservation and reducing social inequalities.
With this in mind, Cielo, a leading payment method company, created the Cielo Social Impact Fund, which aims to promote the raising and application of financial resources in actions and projects that contribute to environmental conservation and the construction of a fairer society. The Fund is managed administratively and financially by Sitawi and began operating with an initial contribution of more than R$1 million for initiatives with a positive socio-environmental impact.
Strategies that enhance impact
Sitawi Finanças do Bem, a non-profit social organization and specialized resource manager, operates the Fund as Institute-as-a-Service. This solution brings efficiency to companies that want to structure their corporate philanthropy, ensuring the resolution of administrative and financial procedures in a fast, strategic and flexible way.
The management of social impact funds like this by non-profit organizations like Sitawi provides a combination of knowledge, resources and expertise to address environmental challenges more efficiently and effectively. For companies, this is a great way to structure corporate philanthropy, integrated with Corporate Social Responsibility actions and the ESG Agenda.
“We operate flexibly and accelerate the flow of capital for positive socio-environmental impact, with a high level of compliance. In a context with so many adversities, it is essential that companies and social organizations collaborate to promote a more sustainable future,” highlights Fernanda Pessoa, Philanthropy Management Manager at Sitawi.
First performance: Rio Grande do Sul
Sitawi's expertise allows the Funds to be opened quickly and begin operating immediately. Even before the official launch of the initiative, the Cielo Social Impact Fund worked to minimize the damage caused by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. R$150,000 was donated to the affected population and approximately R$83,000 was raised for basic necessities such as food, water, medicine and materials for renovating homes.
“The creation of our Social Impact Fund is essential for us to fulfill our role as an agent of social transformation and improvement. With it, we expand the positive impact of our work through innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, education, technology and diversity,” says Daniel Poli, Executive Manager of Sustainability, Diversity and Impact at Cielo.
