THE State Secretariat for the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMA-MA) its purpose is to ensure promoting the sustainable development of the State of Maranhão, formulating and implementing public policies aimed at harmonizing the preservation, conservation and sustainable use of the environment, with respect for ethnic-racial-cultural diversity and socio-environmental justice in the territory.
The Maranhão Without Wildfires Program It is a state government initiative aimed at Addressing the impacts of wildfires in Maranhão. Through public awareness campaigns and the implementation of firefighting equipment and techniques, the program seeks to reduce fire outbreaks and mitigate environmental damage associated with deforestation and agricultural practices.
To make it feasible financial management of resources received in support of the program – originally collected through an international organization and directed to Brazilian states in an integrated strategy for preventing and combating forest fires – SEMA-MA sought to Sitawi Finanças do Bem to establish and manage the Maranhão Philanthropic Fund Without Wildfires. The partnership ensures transparency and efficiency in the application of resources., ensuring that every investment translates into real impact for the environment and communities of the state.
