The experience, held between the 2nd and 5th of June, provided the sharing of knowledge, conscious listening and collective coexistence. Through workshops and conversation circles, the event allowed a meeting with the other, a meeting with yourself and reflections on the feminine universe and technology. The spaces proposed different themes such as self-care, digital security, living with plants and woodworking and took shape with participants from neighboring territories, such as Visconde de Mauá, Penedo and Resende, and others further afield, such as Brasília, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Bogota.
Anais-Karenin, from São Paulo who has lived in Rio for five years, says that she started studying medicinal plants at the age of 14. Visual artist by training, he facilitated a workshop on connections with plants and commented on the meeting.
– The workshop provided a very important moment of exchange. As at the meeting we were looking to deal with technologies and the management of our affections, transmitting teachings that focus on autonomy with plants was very rich. In the workshop, I tried to approach plants from the perspective of enhancing the participants' intuition, to undo a distant and fearful relationship that each one had with herbs, especially in this search for a more therapeutic contact - he said.
She told us about the relationship we make between therapeutic knowledge and our family experiences and how the study starts from the individual doubts of each participant with their own body.
– The first day was very immersive and we accessed many shares of personal narratives and knowledge rescued from the memory of the family, grandmothers. On the second day I taught my recipes, how to handle plants, how to make certain forms of medication that can make up a home pharmacy. The subjects departed a lot from the demand of each body. And I feel that this relationship was greatly amplified by the relationship with the rural space, each of us was already in constant contact and dialogue with the plants in that rural context, and that helped a lot. Other than that, the workshop was almost expanded to the meeting completely, because every day people came to me looking for treatments for the discomfort they felt there (headache, stomachache) and especially pain they had been feeling for a long time. It was really the opening of a very important channel, literally Connection with Plants – he concluded.
EncontrADA started in 2012 as part of the activities program of Nuvem – Rural Station of Art and Technology. The coordinator of the initiative, Cinthia Mendonça, says that the project has become a reference in the Serrinha community, in the municipality of Resende, in the south of Fluminense.
– The Serrinha community is very entrepreneurial. This edition of EncontrADA had a significant participation of local residents. We are strengthening a very cohesive local network and there are good things to come,” he commented.
