72% of students point out the classroom as the main source of learning about African culture and Afro-Brazilian. Despite this, 26% of primary school managers indicate that teaching African and Afro-Brazilian history and culture is not on the schools' priority agenda.
The data is from Equidade.info, the largest platform for listening to students, teachers and school administrators in Brazil. The project is an initiative of the Lemann Center at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, which seeks to provide high-quality data to support research and policies aimed at Fairer Basic Education in the country.
Structured in the form of a Philanthropic Fund, the initiative relies on Sitawi's financial and specialized management due to the need for long-term financial sustainability, ensuring that its actions continue to be effective and comprehensive in Brazil.

Equidade.Info's operations are based on three strategic pillars:
- improving the quality of information on basic education;
- Mobilization of national and international professors working in cutting-edge research to study the main Brazilian educational challenges;
- the preparation and attraction of students with diverse profiles to join national and international undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The surveys conducted by Equidade.info, six times a year, directly on the ground in schools across Brazil, offer a detailed view of educational gaps and inequalities in the country, to inform more effective policies and actions, with real potential to mitigate these inequities.
