The Somos Água Institute was created to continue a legacy of caring for and regenerating waters, with three main objectives:
In 2023, the Participatory Water Care Certification was created, inspired by Participatory Guarantee Systems (SPGs). This initiative promotes a community network for the protection, regeneration, and appreciation of water, uniting science, traditional knowledge, and environmental education.
Created in Piracanga (BA) and conducted by the Somos Água Institute, the certification defines criteria such as: use of biodegradable products, ecological sanitation, periodic analysis of water quality, responsible waste management and regeneration of riparian forests.
More than just a set of practices, certification seeks to raise awareness and engage communities to recognize water as a living, sacred, and human-rights-bearing entity. In this way, it fosters shared responsibility and regenerative practices that can be replicated across diverse territories.
