Inclusive Sanitation Initiative

Sanitation

About the initiative

The Inclusive Sanitation initiative is a collective specialized in sanitation, with technical and planning content to strengthen and implement the repertoire of solutions (approaches, models, tools, methodologies, systems and practices) adapted to local contexts. The initiative seeks to collaborate in the construction of a repertoire of knowledge and practices capable of dealing with the diversity of territorial contexts in the country, recognizing the complexity of the issue and the importance of inclusive and integrated solutions for sanitation. The initiative aims to strengthen and make more accessible the repertoire of sanitation solutions to Brazilian contexts that are often underserved.

  • Sanitation solutions must be adapted to local contexts to be effective in promoting health and quality of life, and sustainable in the long term.
  • The conditions of territorial occupation in Brazil are diverse and require equally diverse sanitation solutions. Therefore, expanding the range of solutions is crucial to achieving universal sanitation services in the country.
  • These repertoires must be qualified and at the same time accessible to the different actors involved in the sanitation chain, from local and community agents to public management and service providers.
