This document is the result of the workshop “Boosting the Amazon’s sociobioeconomy”, promoted by the Climate and Society Institute and Banco do Brasil in April 2024. The text addresses the importance of the Amazon in the interconnection between the protection of sustainable ways of life, the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change. Despite its potential, the region is marked by an economic model that exploits its natural resources, threatening the forest. To reverse this situation, it is necessary to adopt a new fair and sustainable economic model that respects local traditions and promotes social inclusion. The bioeconomy, especially the sociobioeconomy, is presented as a promising solution.
