Folha de São Paulo promotes the Social Entrepreneur Award 2021

As in 2020, this year's awards focus on initiatives that have excelled in responding to the pandemic.

The 17th edition of the main socio-environmental entrepreneurship award in Latin America is open until August 2nd. The initiative is carried out by Folha de São Paulo in partnership with the Schwab Foundation and has once again the institutional support of Sitawi.

Candidates will be able to apply according to four different categories of responses to Covid-19: Health Emergency, Social and Productive Inclusion, Innovation for Recovery and Community Solutions. In all, 12 highlights will be recognized, three in each category, with the election of four Social Entrepreneurs of the Year by the jury made up of experts and personalities.

The 2021 edition seeks to give visibility to the legacy of organizations that work directly on latent issues such as the fight against hunger, inequalities, and that develop solutions in the areas of health, income generation, education, housing and the environment. Examples of resilience and creativity in peripheral territories will also be recognized.

“We will recognize initiatives that promote social and productive inclusion, as well as efforts that boost economic recovery and a more egalitarian post-pandemic world.” says Sérgio D'ávila, Editor-in-Chief at Folha.

Winners and finalists are awarded a series of benefits, including courses and mentorships and selection for special programs, which total more than R$ 400 thousand. In addition to qualifications, the winners and finalists expand their national and international projection and networking through the Folha Network of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs and the Schwab Network of Social Entrepreneurs, one of the sister entities of the World Economic Forum.

In the 2020 edition, three initiatives supported by Sitawi in the response to Covid-19 were recognized: in the Humanitarian Aid category, the União Amazônia Viva Fund, within the União BR Movement and in the Covid-19 Mitigation category, the Emergency Health Fund – Coronavirus Brazil – and the social business of Fleximedical .
