The socio-environmental agenda in Brazil gains a new ally with the launch of the Ambiafro Fund, which combines climate justice and racial justice as central pillars of action. The initiative is set up as a Philanthropic Fund and has the financial management of Sitawi, ensuring that the resources mobilized are applied efficiently in projects and actions aimed at the democratization of socio-environmental agendas and the inclusion of the black population in the sustainable development of the country.
Created by the NGO Ambiafro, the fund works on complementary fronts:
• The first is focused on training and qualification, through courses, lectures and educational materials that address the reality of the black population.
• The second front promotes support for black entrepreneurs who work with sustainable solutions, strengthening their businesses and expanding opportunities for insertion in the market.
“The job market is already difficult for those who want to work in sustainability. If you are a black person, the barriers are even greater. The Ambiafro Fund was created to break down these walls and position black people as protagonists of sustainable development,” says Carlos Eduardo Marques, founder of Ambiafro.
Ambiafro's work is based on the principle that there is no sustainability without racial equity. With the creation of the fund, the organization consolidates its mission of expanding access to information about the environment and strengthening black protagonism in fundamental issues such as climate justice, territorial security, the green economy and income generation.
By taking over management of the fund, Sitawi reinforces its commitment to structural causes, mobilizing capital for initiatives that act at the roots of socio-environmental challenges.
