Philanthropic Fund to combat COVID-19 reaches 1.2 million people

Four months after the launch of the Philanthropic Fund We Follow Together The Coca Cola Foundation, 113 non-profit organizations were supported, reducing the negative impacts of the pandemic on communities through prevention and awareness.

The initiative was divided into three pillars – food safety, health & prevention and awareness & communication -, reaching 25 of the 27 Brazilian states and directly impacting more than 1.2 million people. More than 20,000 COVID-19 tests were donated, in addition to 65,000 medical equipment.

Each of the funded NGOs had to prove that they were already fighting the effects of the pandemic in vulnerable communities and that they could deliver the donations within 30 days. Criteria such as the benefited region, its contamination status and the number of expected beneficiaries were also taken into account.

The impact of the Philanthropic Fund can be seen directly on its beneficiaries. Paulo Roberto Alves, attended by the Gastromotiva organization, reports: ?I used to live on the street and now I live in a rented room near the Gastromotiva Refectory. I used to go to the community canteens every day, and if it weren't for the Canteen Food Banks, I wouldn't even have food at home. This food basket will help me a lot. My only income comes from government assistance for mental disorders and I use it to pay for my rent, food and medication. Being part of the various organizations and projects supported by Gastromotiva makes all the difference.?
