SouMinasGerais Philanthropic Fund disburses 450 thousand reais for the reconstruction of the Rio Doce Basin

Funds were raised from charity concerts held in São Paulo and Minas Gerais

In December, artists such as Caetano Veloso, Criolo, Maria Gadú and Tulipa Ruiz came together in two charity shows to assistance to families impacted by the collapse of the dams in Mariana-MG. The performances brought together more than 13,000 supporters of the cause at the Esplanada do Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte, and at Espaço das Américas, in São Paulo. The amount raised from the tickets was donated to the SouMinasGerais Philanthropic Fund, managed by Sitawi Finanças do Bem.

The amount collected reached the mark of 450 thousand reais and was directed to the collaborative project River of People, which consists of an independent study, coordinated by Greenpeace, to measure the impacts of the catastrophe and identify solutions for the reconstruction of the Rio Doce Basin, in Minas Gerais.

The fund was created from the proceeds from the concert tickets. The São Paulo edition had a paying audience of 2,780 people, raising R$110,492.54. In Belo Horizonte, the audience reached the mark of 10,597, totaling R$140,052.00. It is worth mentioning that the artists waived their fees and, therefore, only the structure was funded by the initiative of Oloko Records and Criolo; Uns Produções and Caetano Veloso; Helber Oliveira and Jota Quest; and the Minas Gerais production company Macaco Prego Arte e Cultura.
