Grupo +Unidos – a partnership between US companies established in Brazil and the US Embassy through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) ? inaugurated two new language laboratories focused on teaching the English language. The Federal University of Pernambuco – UFPE and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS, contemplated by the initiative, intend to benefit more than 4 thousand students this year. Sitawi Financeira do Bem is responsible for the financial management of the group's activities in the country.
The new laboratories are part of the +Unidos group initiative in support of MEC in the Languages without Borders Program (IsF), investing in the acquisition of equipment, computers, software and servers for teaching the language, preferably to University students, in addition to possibility of applying TOEFL exams for English language certification.
?We are very happy to see that with each new opening, we take another step towards our goal of training 1 million students in the language.?, says Gilberto Peralta, chairman of the management committee of the +Unidos group and CEO of GE in Brazil. ?We estimate the delivery of another 5 laboratories throughout 2017, which will double our current capacity and, without a doubt, will bring very positive results for young Brazilians who are entering the job market?, completes the executive.
For the President of the Languages without Borders Program at MEC, Denise Martins de Abreu e Lima, this partnership with Grupo +Unidos is extremely important for the entire academic community. ?The Group's initiative with our Program only makes us stronger. In addition to being a differential for the internationalization process of our Universities, it also brings more visibility to our program. The idea is to extend the partnership to reach the entire national territory, further expanding the number of students benefited?, comments Denise.
The laboratories are supported by English teachers and will be used to carry out online activities, apply tests, in addition to preparatory courses for language proficiency exams.
