Ensuring clean and healthy water is one of Brazil's greatest challenges, where rivers, springs, and aquifers suffer from waste contamination, inadequate sanitation, and excessive chemical use. To address this situation and inspire a new culture of care, the Somos Água Institute is launching its Philanthropic Fund, financially managed by Sitawi.
The Fund aims to expand the Participatory Water Care Certification, already underway in Piracanga, Bahia. The initiative combines science, traditional knowledge, and environmental education to transform individual and collective attitudes into concrete benefits: full participation by community properties, continuous sanitation improvements, ecosystem protection, increased community awareness, and inspiration for other territories to replicate the methodology.
"Water knows no borders. When we care for it in our homes and communities, we also care for the health of rivers, the ocean, and all living beings. This fund ensures the continuity and expansion of this collective movement," says Juliana Faber, founder of the Somos Água Institute.
With the new Fund, the institute reinforces its purpose: to engage people, communities, and partners in shared responsibility for water conservation, transforming small gestures into major impacts for life and the planet.
"Philanthropy is a powerful tool for advancing various socio-environmental causes. With this fund, we're able to increase transparency, attract partnerships, and expand the impact of certification," says Fernanda Pessoa, Philanthropy Management Manager at Sitawi.
