New Philanthropic Fund focuses on recovery of Brumadinho

On January 25, 2019, dam 1 at the Córrego do Feijão Mine, owned by the mining company Vale, broke causing victims, destroying nearby communities and triggering environmental problems in the region. Several companies, NGOs, artists and other institutions carried out actions to collect urgent donations in support of the victims of Brumadinho. However, medium and long-term strategies are also needed to manage the resources allocated to Brumadinho.

To support the recovery and sustainable development of Brumadinho with this focus, Sitawi, MECA Developing FARM created the ProBrumadinho philanthropic fund, whose  funds raised will be allocated to actions that promote a positive impact in the medium and long term, either in the financing of technical studies, or in direct actions for the development of the region affected by the dam of Mina do Córrego do Feijão.

According to the founder and CEO of Sitawi, Leonardo Letelier, funds for this purpose are important, because when general attention dissipates and donations decrease, humanitarian, environmental and research organizations will continue to need resources to carry out their work in the region.

Sitawi has 11 years of experience in philanthropic funds and will be responsible for managing the funds raised. FARM, as the first corporate donor, will contribute to the fund's operating strategy, such as the choice of projects and institutions for directing resources, and MECA will be the fund's face-to-face and active interface with the region due to its relationship with the city and the residents of Brumadinho? established at the MECAInhotim festival ?It makes perfect sense for MECA to use all its power to connect people and brands, with our experience and business intelligence, to help speed up the recovery of the region”, adds Rodrigo Santanna, founder of MECA.
