New Philanthropic Fund focused on mental health: meet Vertentes

With one of the largest populations on the planet, Brazil occupies a worrying position in world mental health rankings. A survey conducted by the Neurotech platform Sapien Labs showed that the country has the fourth worst mental health rate on the planet.

The Vertentes movement is launched as an unprecedented initiative that aims to build a mental health ecosystem in Brazil, through the generation and dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of a culture of welcome.

The new Vertentes Philanthropic Fund aims to receive resources to carry out actions on the three fronts of Vertentes' work, including providing resources to other organizations that implement concrete actions, supervised by Vertentes. This last one will not be done at the first moment. Perhaps it is better not to mention it, as it is more of a medium and long-term one.

With Sitawi's financial and specialized management, the Fund is a milestone in the area of mental health, structured to expand the understanding of the importance of emotional care for all Brazilians. The Fund received support from the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (IDIS) in its initial structuring phase.

"We are very happy with the launch of the Vertentes Fund, a philanthropic financing instrument to increase the volume of resources available in the area of Mental Health. And we are also very happy to have Sitawi as our partner to ensure the Financial Management of the Vertentes Fund!” Beto Carvalho, CEO of SoulBeeGood, Co-founder of Vertentes and CISM

By opting for a Philanthropic Fund, Vertentes seeks to increase its impact and reach, nurturing a culture of mental health that involves acceptance, emotional literacy, collaboration and continuous investment.

Mental health as a right for all

With the launch of the Vertentes Fund, Sitawi is proud to add its expertise in the financial management of Philanthropic Funds to a project of great relevance and social impact, which promises to advance the debate and action on mental health in Brazil.

“It is a great pleasure to be part of this important network, which looks at the cause of mental health with the aim of generating systemic and positive transformations in society, placing the issue on the public agenda and influencing policies aimed at promoting mental health in the country”, comments Yananda Lima, coordinator of partnerships and development in Philanthropy Management at Sitawi.

The Vertentes Fund was born from a partnership between organizations dedicated to mental health, such as Asec+, Instituto Bem do Estar, Instituto Ame sua Mente, Instituto Vita Alere, and SoulBeeGood. It has the strategic support of Essência Sustentável in the executive secretariat and IDIS in the structuring of the Fund, Sitawi in financial management, and under the legal consultancy of SBSA Advogados.
