True value of sociobiodiversity products: a case study of sustainable management of pirarucu​

The pirarucu is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. Its sustainable management chain is extremely important for improving people's quality of life in an integrated manner with the conservation of biodiversity in the Amazon. However, it still does not generate fair remuneration for the communities and associations that sell it.

This study, developed by Sitawi experts, identifies the gap between the real prices paid to local communities and associations and the fair prices that should be paid by the market or covered by regulations, economic incentives and financial instruments.
