Recently, Sitawi held a workshop on financial health for organizations operating in the oilseed production chain in the Middle Juruá region of Amazonas. The activity was part of another initiative of the Middle Juruá Territory Program (PTMJ) and brought together representatives from four organizations, including associations and cooperatives responsible for different stages of the production chain.
Led by Clarice Santos, a Conservation and Climate Finance specialist at Sitawi, the workshop focused on contributing to the improvement of the financial management of participating organizations. The first module was designed as a time for listening, leveling, and collaborative construction, proposing a practical approach aligned with the reality of each group.
For Clarice, the strength of the workshop lay precisely in the exchange with the organizations and in building solutions connected to practice.
“The most important thing was seeing organizations understand, from their own reality, that recording financial and inventory movements is not just about filling out a spreadsheet. It's about creating conditions to better see what comes in, what goes out, what stays, and how each decision can be made with more clarity,” he says.
The continuation of this work will be monitored in future meetings, with practical activities between modules to support the use of the tools and consolidate the learning.
The Middle Juruá Territory Program
Since 2017, Sitawi has been raising and managing financial contributions for the Médio Juruá Territory Program (PTMJ). It also participates in its design and programmatic implementation in partnership with grassroots organizations and local authorities (TMJ Forum, AMAB, AMARU, AMECSARA, ASMAMJ, ASPROC, ASPODEX, ACFRC and CODAEMJ).
The initiative is coordinated by Sitawi, implemented by the Middle Juruá Territory Forum, and has the Mott Foundation as a funding partner. The program brings together and supports projects led by the territory, strengthening associativism through community-based social organization and supporting the local bioeconomy, in addition to actions for territorial protection, governance, women's entrepreneurship, and youth.
