Other impact initiatives
Sustainable Finance
Between 2013 and 2021, Sitawi's trajectory evolved through two programs: Social Finance and Sustainable Finance. With their own teams, CNPJs and distinct legal nature, the two entities (OSCIP and Consultoria) shared a brand and infrastructure, offering complementary value propositions to partners and clients.
From the point of view of Finance for Good, in this period the Sitawi brand reflected the pioneering spirit of both organizations/programs in different segments, from philanthropy and impact investing to second opinions of securities with an ESG approach. With the strong growth of all these markets in recent years, both programs have also evolved. Thus, to meet the design of strategies and policies better adapted to the ambitions and audiences of each Program, at the end of 2021, the organizations announced the transition of the operating model and stopped operating under a single brand.
The Sustainable Finance Practice gave rise to NINT (a name inspired by the concept of natural intelligence). With 11 years of experience, more than 700 projects for more than 250 clients and a team of 100 people, the consultancy directs its broad expertise across the entire ESG spectrum to investors, companies and public and private financial institutions.
Social Impact Bonds
Social Impact Bonds is a payment mechanism for social results. Developed in 2010 in the United Kingdom, this mechanism enables private investment to contract social programs by public management, based on evidence of impact on the population, bringing the focus to results. Thus, the State undertakes to pay investors, with a rate of return, only if the targets are achieved, which makes the investor responsible for the financial risk of failure of the program.
In 2015, Sitawi started to specialize in the development and structuring of Social Impact Bonds. We are pioneers in the development of the mechanism in Brazil, supporting the design, financing and implementation phases, advising governments, investors and/or interested operators. Together with the state government of Ceará, we coordinated studies and strategic meetings to make a Bond in the health area feasible in 2017. At the same time, we assisted in the preparation of PLS nº338, which is being processed by the National Congress, with the objective of establishing a new form of partnership between power public and private sector in the form of a Social Impact Contract.
In 2019, we carried out the 1st Call Sitawi of Social Impact Bonds, supported by FAPERJ (Rio de Janeiro category) and by the Sabin Institute (national category), with the objective of encouraging state and municipal public managers to contribute to the modernization of the management of subnational governments through innovative solutions and improvement of public services offered to the population.
Sitawi is a co-founder of the Red Latinoamericana de Paid for Results, which promotes the issue in other countries in the region.
Donate More, Donate Better
With the mission of promoting a culture of giving in Brazil as an objective way to build a better country, in 2015 Sitawi created the Doe Mais, Doe Melhor platform. The initiative gathered stories and actions of people who donated resources to inspire others to do the same, creating an atmosphere of solidarity where everyone finds a way to contribute to change the Brazilian social sector.
The initiative also ran a campaign to choose the organization with the best online fundraising plan – through expert evaluation and public voting. This was contemplated with R$50 thousand in services to operationalize the campaign. During the process, materials were developed and training in online fundraising was offered to all participants.
The Acãochego campaign, by Ampara Animal, was the winner and raised around R$400 thousand.
