Rec'n'Play 2025
Our Senior Philanthropy Management Manager, Fernanda Pessoa, participated in a panel discussion on social technologies and climate justice at Rec'n'Play in Fortaleza.
During the panel, Fernanda brought up an essential point: how financial mechanisms can be powerful tools for promoting social and climate justice, especially when they connect capital to organizations working on the front lines of this crisis.

We have positively impacted the lives of more than 14 million people.

Our work is to accelerate the flow of capital to socio-environmental causes. But at the heart of everything we do, capital is an enabling element. Positive impact is made through people. People who believe. Who act. Who dare to dream beyond the imposed reality.
Technology and ancestry
In Montes Altos (MT), in the Krikati Indigenous Territory, we worked with a group of inspiring indigenous women. Among them was Carmosina Guajajara, a leader from the Recanto dos Cocais village. We reached her through the Floresta+ project, implemented in conjunction with the local association as an initiative for territorial development and women's empowerment.
In 2024, one of the village's greatest achievements was the arrival of the internet. More than just connectivity, it brought new possibilities: teleconferences, reporting of territorial invasions, access to education and work, closer contact with distant relatives, and more information for the community.
The central objective of the initiative wasn't the internet itself, but through conversations and meetings we realized that for this and so many other projects to thrive, digital connectivity was a basic and indispensable resource. Our work goes beyond the creation and development of innovative financial mechanisms. Through empathy and active listening, we build solutions that benefit the community. And that's what we believe in!
Innovation and women's rights
Our job is to direct the flow of capital to those who truly know how to transform it into impact. Often, good ideas and innovations need to be accompanied by a solid foundation of financial and administrative management. Sometimes, all that's missing is a guiding light.
That was it. insight, It was from a real pain shared by the entrepreneurs in our portfolio that the... Lighthouse: A program to prepare organizations to receive funding.
One of the first success stories of this training was with... Ecocycle – a Brazilian startup created by women that created the first biodegradable 100% sanitary pad in Brazil. Beyond the innovative product, the business has a social function: raising awareness about menstruation, combating menstrual poverty, and reducing the waste of sanitary pads.
The people of the future
When we think about preserving the forest, we often think of sustainable agriculture and conservation projects. But there is a small creature that plays a fundamental role in this balance: bees.
In the Middle Juruá Territory, a group of young people is discovering their importance. As part of the project “Agroecological practices and entrepreneurship for young riverside dwellers of the Campina Rural Family School”, led by the Association of Families of the Carauari Rural Family House (ACFR), implemented by Sitawi and supported by the Floresta+ Program, four young people, Gabriel Cunha and Mikaela Paixão, from the São Raimundo community (Middle Juruá RESEX), and Raimundo Aquino and Kailane Araújo, from the Bauana community (Uacari RDS), participated in an exchange program in Manaus.
During their visit to the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA), they learned about a successful experience in meliponiculture: the raising of stingless bees, an activity that is still in its early stages in the region, but with great potential to generate income and strengthen forest conservation.
These young people show that caring for the future of the forest also means learning from those who keep it alive.
After an extensive selection process of Amazon Forest, Sitawi was chosen to work in partnership with community-based organizations in the states of the Legal Amazon. The initiative is carried out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA), with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). |

Cooperation between knowledge and organizations
For impact to happen, it is necessary to unite forces and knowledge. Strategic partnerships broaden the exchange of knowledge and create financial mechanisms capable of driving sustainable development. This year, we celebrated agreements with... WWF-Brazil and with the ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
This technical cooperation paves the way for the exchange of practices and experiences, the development of joint proposals, and the exploration of new private funding. Expanding the possibilities for real transformation for the environment and for communities.

Economy
Mixed and empathetic capital amplifying impact
Access to water is a universal right. However, only 241% of Brazil's rural population is connected to the public water network, leaving many people dependent on untreated sources and putting their health at risk. This data comes from the National Basic Sanitation Information System (SINISA) 2024.
To change this reality, SISAR (Integrated Rural Sanitation System), a non-profit organization founded in the city of Sobral (CE) almost 30 years ago, aims to bring sustainable access to drinking water and basic sanitation to rural communities in the state.
This year, we held a special themed session on access to water at Sitawi Platform for Positive Impact. The investments were exhausted in just 5 hours, showing how urgent the issue is in the country. Enabling investment in organizations like the unit SISAR BCL It mitigates social inequalities and promotes quality of life for thousands of people.
We raised R$600,000 in the Sitawi Platform, and Coca-Cola Brazil doubled that amount, reaching R$1.2 million with more accessible conditions than those offered in the traditional market. This demonstrates the power of blended finance for positive impact.
The cradle of Brazil's waters
In times of water crisis, a veritable water tower in the heart of the country brings hope for the future: the Closed.
The second largest biome in Brazil, it covers 221,000 hectares of the national territory and is known as the "cradle of waters," essential for the formation of the main hydrographic basins of South America.
Unfortunately, the Cerrado is also the biome most impacted by the expansion of agriculture and livestock farming. Its devastation threatens local communities, traditional peoples, and quilombola communities that depend directly on its natural resources.
While global attention is almost exclusively focused on the Amazon, biomes like the Cerrado are often overlooked. With this in mind, we conducted an investment round focused on impact businesses in the Central-West region, highlighting initiatives that conserve and transform the Cerrado.
Furthermore, another business from the Cerrado, the New Green, we raised funds in another round focused on initiatives led by women.
When innovation meets positive impact.
Many Brazilian organizations receive donations from abroad. But they face exorbitant bank fees that reduce the amount received. Sitawi itself has experienced this challenge.
That's how it came about Exchange of Good, an innovative mechanism that combines impact and economic efficiency: organizations save up to 5% on international transfers, expanding the reach of their projects and directing more resources to what really needs them.
This innovation also supports organizations that are already part of our portfolio. Such as the case of... FORTParaOil. Check out the report from Gilberto Nobumasa, founder of the organization, which has already raised funds twice through our Sitawi Platform for Positive Impact.
Infrastructure for impact
As an intermediary organization, we are not always at the forefront of actions. But we are an essential part of the machinery that makes impact possible.
Intermediate NGOs, such as Sitawi, create the conditions for end NGOs, which work directly on the ground, to operate efficiently and sustainably.
Ultimately, there is no transformation without structure. Social and environmental impact can only be sustained when there is a solid, transparent financial foundation aligned with common goals.
This is how we continue to strengthen the ecosystem: by funding good, with empathy and strategy.
Sitawi at COP30
For the first time, Brazil hosted this crucial meeting. In this section, we have compiled content, releases, records, and insights from Sitawi experts who attended COP 30 in Belém.
Flora Fund with WRI Brazil
The bottom is a innovative mechanism who will invest in 40 organizations in the bioeconomy supply chain in the state of Pará, with the goal of financing, monitoring, and empowering high-capacity local institutions.
This is a fund that brings together organizations committed to supporting indigenous and quilombola communities, expanding and scaling restoration initiatives in the heart of the Amazon.
The proposal aims to connect different sources of funding, from donations to refundable mechanisms, and ensure that the focus remains on people, promoting inclusive restoration where local peoples and communities are at the heart of the solutions. Read more here.
Philanthropy Day
It was a collective initiative of CAF – Charities Aid Foundation, GIFE, IDIS, Latimpacto, Sitawi Finanças do Bem and WINGS, with support from RD Saúde. The event reinforced how Partnerships are essential to building a sustainable future..
The meeting brought together approximately 90 participants to reflect on the role of Philanthropic capital in promoting social justice and addressing the climate crisis..
It became clear that philanthropy is at the heart of the solutions: it is necessary Innovate with purpose and collaborate strategically., ensuring that innovation serves clear objectives and generates value for everyone.
The event highlighted, once again, the The strength of the union between partners. and the transformative potential of cooperation for a better future.
Financial Instrument for Climate Justice with Climate Ventures
Climate justice recognizes that the impacts of the climate crisis do not affect all people in the same way. Therefore, the transition needs to be just, inclusive, and territory-centric.
The instrument was developed for impact businesses focused on climate justice, with a focus on benefiting Indigenous communities, quilombola communities, and other traditional populations..
Its design emerged from a collaborative process: the team spoke with businesses to understand their real needs, engaged in dialogue with investors to structure a viable model, and listened to experts in climate justice.
The result is a financial instrument designed to share power and strengthen autonomy in territories, contributing to systemic change and improving people's lives. Read more here.
Global Ethical Balance Sheet (BEG)
An unprecedented joint initiative by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, with support from the COP30 Presidency, the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA), and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sitawi is the financial manager of BEG, making this mobilization possible and ensuring that finances and values go hand in hand.
For deepen you debates initiated in COP30, nwe joined them with IDIS, GIFE, WINGS and Latin Pact at an event that will showcase our joint analysis about COP 30 and the role of philanthropy and innovative financial mechanisms in advancing climate issues.
Participating in COP was an important milestone for us. This year, we moved beyond simply working behind the scenes to effectively occupy spaces for dialogue and collective construction. We brought our experience to provoke qualified debates and reflections on ethical finance, climate justice, and nature-based solutions: always with a focus on strengthening the Brazilian socio-environmental ecosystem. We reinforced Sitawi's role as an articulator and catalyst for impact. We left COP even more convinced that it is possible and necessary to transform ambition into action.
