Organized civil society plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of public policies that meet social demands. Recognizing this importance, the Civil 20 (C20), the official civil society engagement group within the G20, with the aim of bringing civil society voices to the center of global decision-making.
This year, with Brazil hosting the G20, the C20 brought together civil society organizations, authorities and experts from around the world in a series of strategic meetings. The goal was to consolidate recommendations into a final document to be presented to the governments of the world's largest economies.
The C20 is structured into 10 thematic Working Groups, which address priority issues such as climate justice, combating hunger, gender equality and sustainable development. Sitawi Finanças do Bem had a prominent participation, contributing to the construction of the policy briefs of two of these groups:
- WG 3: “Environment, Climate Justice and Just Energy Transition”, paving the way for COP30, which will be held here in Brazil in 2025;
- GT 9: “Philanthropy for Sustainable Development”, which highlighted how philanthropy can promote cooperation between governments and civil society to build a more inclusive and resilient future.
