THE Sitawi Finances do Good, a longtime PPA member, will now manage the Partners for the Amazon Platform's Philanthropic Fund (PPA). The Fund will receive contributions in the form of donations from the initiative's partners to make partnerships and projects viable within the scope of the PPA's objectives and mission. The PPA Fund Manager is an organization hired, after selection by public notice, which involved several companies, to manage these resources. A Sitawi was selected for its expertise in social finance and good governance.
?The PPA grew and it was time to add a fund manager to strengthen and support a more mature platform. We are happy that Sitawi was selected in the public notice for Philanthropic Fund Manager, as the organization follows the PPA from the beginning and brings incredible value to the Partnership, not only for its experience, but for the shared vision of the PPA?, celebrated Anna Tonnes, director of media USAID/Brazil environment.
The contract was signed via the International Biodiversity Alliance and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), USAID's strategic partner in the implementation of the PPA. ?Collaborative action and inter-agency partnerships are critical to addressing challenges in protecting Amazonian biodiversity. The fund manager is a central part of the collaboration strategy and will help grow PPA shares,” said Jesus Quintana, Americas director for the Alliance. Partnership and collaboration are at the heart of PPA, and PPA's new role Sitawi will contribute in this regard. ?This agreement is not only a symbol of our cooperation, but also highlights the ability to bring together complementary institutions for a common goal?, explained Augusto Corrêa, Executive Secretary of the PPA.
One of the reasons for Sitawi being chosen is its history of partnership with different actors in the promotion of sustainable development. Tomaz Solberg, board member of Sitawi, he added: Sitawi, we believe that social and environmental issues are so challenging that it is not possible to solve them alone. We need multiple partners, people with diverse backgrounds and different perspectives who can work together, we need partnerships. We know that by joining forces we can do more?.
