In this scenario, the concept of <strong>sociobiodiversity<\/strong> emerges as a strategic and necessary response.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is sociobiodiversity?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE <strong>sociobiodiversity<\/strong> is the interaction between the <strong>biological diversity<\/strong> (biodiversity) and the <strong>sociocultural diversity<\/strong> of traditional regions. It values the <strong>ancestral human knowledge<\/strong>, associated with the <strong>economic potential<\/strong> and to <strong>environmental preservation<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, they are productive activities based on <strong>traditional knowledge<\/strong> what <strong>generate income and well-being<\/strong>, <strong>without compromising ecosystems<\/strong>. This logic promotes the protagonism of indigenous, quilombola, riverside, extractive and family farming communities as guardians of biodiversity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How important is sociobiodiversity?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE <strong>sociobiodiversity<\/strong> is a fundamental asset for Brazil, as it reveals that it is possible to harmonize the use of <strong>biodiversity<\/strong> with the <strong>appreciation of cultural diversity and production<\/strong>. Its main benefits include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Valorization of traditional knowledge<\/strong> \u2013 indigenous peoples, quilombolas, extractivists, fishermen, family farmers, among others, transform ancestral knowledge into sustainable businesses that generate income and preserve nature;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Preservation of biodiversity<\/strong> \u2013 by aligning cultural practices with the sustainable use of natural resources, sociobiodiversity promotes the conservation of ecosystems.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Economic potential<\/strong> \u2013 promotes economic growth in balance with the environment, contributing to sustainable development and strengthening socio-environmental responsibility in the market;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Research and development<\/strong> \u2013 the richness of biodiversity and traditional knowledge drives scientific innovation in areas such as health, technology and climate solutions, offering responses to global challenges.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sociobiodiversity in Brazil<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Brazil<\/strong>, with its vast territorial extension and variety of biomes, has one of the greatest riches of<strong> biodiversity<\/strong> of the planet. This natural diversity is accompanied by an immense<strong> sociocultural wealth of traditional peoples and communities<\/strong>, which play a fundamental role in <strong>sustainable management of resources<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognition of the importance of <strong>sociobiodiversity<\/strong> has already been consolidated in public policies:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>National Biodiversity Policy<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planalto.gov.br\/ccivil_03\/decreto\/2002\/d4339.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Decree No. 4,339\/2002<\/a>): encourages the sustainable use of biodiversity considering not only its economic value, but also social, environmental and cultural values;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>National Policy for the Sustainable Development of Traditional Peoples and Communities<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.planalto.gov.br\/ccivil_03\/_ato2007-2010\/2007\/decreto\/d6040.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Decree No. 6,040\/2007<\/a>): reinforces the need to guarantee the territorial, social, environmental, economic and cultural rights of these peoples.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These milestones demonstrate the effort to strengthen local economies and ensure that the benefits of biodiversity also reach traditional communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You <strong>sociobiodiversity products<\/strong> are goods and services developed from the <strong>sustainable management<\/strong> and traditional knowledge, <a href=\"https:\/\/sitawi.net\/en\/como-promover-a-valorizacao-dos-produtos-da-sociobiodiversidade-amazonica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generating economic value<\/a> without compromising the environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The management of these products is developed from f<strong>strong cultural and customary ties<\/strong>, and integrating a deep system of knowledge and wisdom passed down from generation to generation by indigenous peoples and local communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/icmbio\/pt-br\/centrais-de-conteudo\/catalago-de-produtos-da-sociobiodiversidade-do-brasil-pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Catalog of Sociobiodiversity Products from Brazil<\/a>, launched by the General Coordination of Traditional Populations (CGPT), the following stand out:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Craftsmanship&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Babassu&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rubber&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cocoa&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Brunette&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cassava flour&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fruits and class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community managed wood&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vegetable oils&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fishing resources&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pirarucu&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community-based tourism&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From sociobiodiversity to sociobioeconomy<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE <strong>sociobioeconomy<\/strong> expands the concept of <strong>bioeconomy<\/strong> by integrating social, cultural and economic dimensions in a more systemic way. Its objective is <strong>generate value responsibly<\/strong>, keeping ecosystems preserved and strengthening local ways of life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Models like the <strong>agroecology<\/strong>, O <strong>community forest management<\/strong> and the <strong>ecotourism <\/strong>show that it is possible to capture carbon, preserve standing forests and diversify local economies, promoting greater resilience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is a model that is already working. For example, according to one <a href=\"https:\/\/wwfbrnew.awsassets.panda.org\/downloads\/wwfbr_2023_nt_cadeia-de-valor.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WWF report,<\/a> The <strong>sociobioeconomy chain<\/strong> in Par\u00e1 it moved R$5.4 billion in 2019, an economic performance similar to that of livestock farming, employing 224 thousand people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to strengthen sociobiodiversity?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most effective ways to strengthen the <strong>sociobiodiversity<\/strong> is through <strong>territorial programs<\/strong>. These programs place communities at the center of decision-making, promote local governance, stimulate sustainable production chains and generate lasting positive impacts for people and the planet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sitawi.net\/en\/\">Sitawi Finan\u00e7as do Bem<\/a><\/strong> has been working for over 16 years with financial solutions for positive impact and specializes in developing and managing territorial programs and projects.
