Partnerships, impact and achievements: the year 2022 on the Sitawi Platform

The year 2022 was another milestone in our journey of democratizing positive impact investing in Brazil. Sitawi, a pioneer in the use of Blended Finance, continued to transform the financial landscape, combining philanthropy and investor capital to support impact businesses. In this blog post, we will look back at the most important moments and the results we achieved in 2022.

Democratized Impact Investing in Brazil

Our goal is to make financial mechanisms attractive to both social entrepreneurs and impact investors. In 2022, we enhanced our strategy for originating and analyzing organizations that raise funds on the Positive Impact Crowdlending Platform, improving financial modeling to understand in more depth the status of each organization and reduce investment risks.

2022 Achievements

  • Important partnerships: We maintain our partnership with USAID, PPA, Humanize, Fundo Vale, GIZ, Instituto Sabin and CLUA.
  • New business: We added 7 new businesses to our portfolio, mobilizing more than R$3 million.
  • Loans paid off: 5 organizations paid off their loans: Tucum, Stattus4, Na'kau, Coopsertão and Coex Carajás.
  • Investments in the Amazon: We conducted two rounds focused on impact in the Amazon, raising over R$ 2 million.
  • Investor engagement: We reached the milestone of more than 700 investors and held 3 calls for impact businesses with 114 registrations.

Growing portfolio

In 2022, two organizations that use technology to generate positive impacts were funded on the Platform. Sysvale, a healthtech company that builds technical solutions for the digitalization of healthcare systems. In addition, we had Stattus4, which uses artificial intelligence to detect water leaks with sensors, and Orgânicos in Box, which democratizes access to healthy food via e-commerce.

The importance of the solidarity fund

Among the five organizations that paid off loans in 2022, Tucum, Na'kau and Coopsertão used the Solidarity Fund.

The Solidarity Fund is made up of philanthropic resources donated to Sitawi. If difficulties arise during loan repayment, the fund can be used to renegotiate debts, ensuring positive impact and returns for investors. This renegotiation may include longer terms, adjusted interest rates, and non-financial support.

Thanks to the use of the Solidarity Fund, these organizations were able to pay off their loans, ensuring the continuity of their positive impact.

Impact on the Amazon

The urgency of protecting the Amazon led us to launch two rounds of investment in 2022, raising more than R$2 million for organizations that work directly with forest conservation. The participating organizations are: Sementes do Marajó, FLAVIA AMADEU, Belterra, 100% Amazônia and COOPASMIG.

Beyond capture

Our work goes beyond facilitating fundraising. We build relationships of trust with entrepreneurs, offering support in financial planning, structuring products/services, and personalized mentoring.

Be part of this positive transformation. Sign up on the website Platform to receive news about the next rounds and join more than 700 impact investors!
