The Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Agroextractive Residents Association of the Barreira do Matupiri Community (BARREIRA) was founded in 2010 as a result of community resistance and mobilization in the face of threats of environmental devastation and disorderly exploitation of the territory. The association represents the collective strength of riverside families committed to defending their traditional way of life and the sustainability of the forest.
